Welcome Lily Evelyn!

On Monday 8-22-11 we welcomed our baby girl, Lily Evelyn, into the world at 8:19 am. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. She is 20 1/2 inches long. She is absolutely beautiful and we are in love! Here is her birth story:
Sunday night Ryan came home from his "boys night" and had woke me up around 11:30 pm. When he woke me up I could tell I was not feeling well. I didn't feel like I was having contractions or in labor. I felt sick, nauseated and like someone had kicked me in the gut and the pain was not going away. Something just didn't feel right so we called the clinic and they told us to call 911 because I had had some spotting, felt light headed, etc. I told them we would just go into the hospital and have things checked out (I didn't see the need to call 911...still glad I made that choice!).
We got to the hospital around 12:00-12:30 am and no one wanted to "check" me because of my low placenta. So needless to say I was in excruciating pain for about 4 hours while they ran labs, tests and finally did an ultra sound. Eventually the MD gave the okay to have me checked and they found out I was dilated to 5. Needless to say I was going to be staying the night...or morning at this point and having a baby! Since I was only to a 5 and already had been in a lot of pain for hours I had an epidural. It definitely helped take the edge off. I could still feel a lot of pressure in my stomach, but it was definitely better. I was able to rest in between really bad contractions. Around 6:30 am they broke my water. They didn't want me to start pushing until 9:00 am but at 8:00 I told the nurse I was feeling a lot of pressure. She checked me and said the baby was coming. The MD hardly had time to get his gloves on. Three pushes later I was holding onto my baby. However, in the rush at the end no one had told us if it was a boy or a girl. I was asking "what is it"? Ryan finally checked and said "it's a girl"! We were so excited to have our sweet little girl! We thought she was beautiful and that she looked a lot like her older brother when he was born...in a girly way of course :) She is such a good baby....I am aware she is only two days old but still :-) She has been an awesome nurser. I do not take this for granted because Logan was not quite so easy!
We are taking Lily home tomorrow. I'm actually typing this all up while she is taking a little snooze. Daddy and Logan are back at home tonight. We are excited to all be together at home tomorrow for the first time! And now for the best part, here are some pictures of newest addition!

Logan's Birthday Weekend

We had a fun filled weekend celebrating Logan's 2nd birthday! Ryan took off work on Friday (Logan's actual birthday) and we spent the day as a family. Daddy picked up a special breakfast...donuts! We got Logan's 2 year pictures taken. Then in the afternoon we headed to the children's museum. Logan loved the children's museum, especially when he was able to "drive" the metro bus! Of course the batteries we bought for our camera died right away so we didn't get any pictures. We've been having some bad luck with our camera!

On Saturday we had Logan's birthday party. Logan got spoiled with lots of new toys to occupy his time! Great timing since the baby will be here soon...I hope! We enjoyed grilling out and some yummy birthday cake :-)

Grandpa & Grandma B were watching Logan's cousins: Melanie, Derrick & Carson and they all spent the night. Logan was tickled to have his cousins sleep over. They had lots of fun playing with the new toys. On Sunday we all headed to the MN Zoo after church and the kids loved seeing all the animals. It was a busy weekend, but so worth watching Logan enjoy every minute of it! He's becoming such a big boy :-) I'm so amazed how quickly time goes as a parent. It feels like yesterday we were bringing Logan home from the hospital. Now he is getting geared up to be a big brother!

Loving Summer...Minus the Humidity!

We have had such a fun jam packed summer. Unfortunately it makes the days seem to go really fast. We had one last Moorlag family vacation at the end of July. Our camera batteries died so we didn't really take any pictures but you can check out the pictures at the Michigan Moorlag's family blog to see all the fun we had!

It is the week of Logan's birthday so we are getting things ready for his big day. I can't believe my baby is going to be 2 on Friday! Although he is definitely no longer a baby. He has made some big transitions this last week. He moved to his new room in the basement and is sleeping in a toddler bed. The transition has been a lot more smooth than I thought it was going to be! He has been a champ about going to sleep. The first night was the hardest as it was about an hour long process to get him to fall asleep. But now that he is used to his new environment he goes down right away. He hasn't fallen out of his bed yet either, so hopefully that continues too.

Now that Logan is out of his room we are bringing out all the baby stuff and getting ready for #2 to come along soon. I'm at the point where I am so done being pregnant! Just looking forward to meeting our little one! Getting excited for our surprise to find out if it is a boy or a girl :-)

Logan in his glory! It was a challenge getting him down :-)

Going for a ride.

Logan & Charlie. Apparently these pigs were more fun than the real ones?

Logan was pretty excited about his new lunch box. He likes to carry it over to our neighbor's on the days I work.
